This detached accessory dwelling unit (DADU) transforms a compact urban lot into a versatile live/work space by stacking a light-filled guest suite and home office above a reimagined garage and workshop. Designed to maximize area within a zero-lot line condition, it balances privacy and openness through skylights and an alley-facing façade without conventional windows. The ground level serves as a functional gear hub, while the upper level offers a retreat for guests and workspace for owners. Dark-stained wood siding, floating concrete treads, and cedar screens create a warm, refined aesthetic that integrates seamlessly into its urban context. Overall, the project exemplifies thoughtful urban infill, prioritizing adaptability, daylight, and craftsmanship.
