Set within a steep, forested hillside, this residence was designed as an extension of its natural surroundings for an active young family seeking both outdoor access and community connection. The design preserves mature woodland while addressing complex site constraints. The home is anchored at the lower level by a partially submerged concrete plinth, stabilizing the uphill slope and carving out an entry portal at ground level. Above, a wood-clad volume rests lightly on the plinth, organizing living spaces into two wings—private bedrooms and communal areas—linked by a glazed ‘bridge’ above the entry, that frames forest views beyond. A detached home office situated with peaceful views to the landscape, provides key separation between work and home life. Large glazed openings in the living area leading to a protected courtyard terrace, blur the boundary between indoors and out, creating a home that balances intimacy, openness, and ecological sensitivity. Complementing this experience, a secluded sauna is set into the woods above the house, offering a quiet retreat immersed in nature.
